For the time being

A few writing things have converged this week so I’m a little busy, mainly doing some interviews with some artists for the next “Month to Month” column. However if you’re looking for some reading check out some reviews I did for RA in the last week or so. Here, here and here.

There’ll be a normal post tomorrow, about something wondrous, like a record I like, the passing of the seasons, or the perpetual isolation of the miserable. One final piece of info: if you’re in Dublin, I’m playing at Backlash at the Pod on Harcourt Street this Thursday night, sometime after midnight till the end.

Oddly, there’s also some sort of free booze or barbecue thing with Belle and Sebastian DJing in the Pod beforehand (I’m guessing 8ish till 11) opening up the possibility of me playing records to many B&S fans or even the band themselves. What dance music do Belle and Sebastian fans like? Kompakt? Hot Chip? Basic Channel?

I don’t know, but I do know surprisingly large number of Belle and Sebastian fans so maybe I should ask (actually one of them likes Kompakt for certain).  Nonetheless I know nothing about Belle and Sebastian apart from the media stereotype (weirdly I’ve never knowingly heard a record of theirs) but if you do want to come to Backlash this week just mail me and I’ll put you on the guestlist. Same goes for the Belle and Seb thing (probably/maybe), which I think involves free booze and barbecue.

You’ve never heard B & S, Ronan? They actually have a ‘techno’ song called “Electronic Renaissance” or something like that, try to find it– not bad for a twee-pop group!
