Yes We Can
So a big thank you to those of you who took the time to vote in the Irish Blog Awards, and the judges who did the subsequent sifting.
This blog has been shortlisted for “Best Blog” (Sponsored by Putplace) and “Best Music Blog” (Sponsored by DownloadMusic.ie) at the Irish blog awards. The full shortlists are here.
I have to say I’m astonished to be shortlisted on the “Best Blog” list, mainly because some really prominent Irish bloggers seem to have been omitted. I’m particularly amazed at Nialler9’s absence from that main category, since he seems to have achieved more with a blog than anyone, gaining a really huge audience.
The awards ceremony takes place on March 1st, just before I move to London, so hopefully I’ll see some of the other candidates there. It’ll be nice to meet some new people and catch up with people from last year. Congratulations to everyone nominated and thanks to the organisers.
PS: Can we get somebody to record the amount of times somebody (probably Mary Wilson) asks if bloggers are “just writing about what they had for breakfast in the morning” in the mainstream media this year?

I think he should have been there, especially taking into account what he has achieved this year. But the blogs on the list all deserve to be there so I guess someone is always going to be left out.
I was also surprised that nialler wasn’t in the best blog category, but I suppose I would say that, wouldn’t I?

yeah I mean, not only did I expect to see him there, I figured Niall was favourite to win that award. I guess it’s consolation enough to have such a successful site anyway!
