efdemin - like all the dial cats - is definitely worth seeing. really nice deep sounds.

as for the hacker, he's definitely in a bit of a locked groove, but he's been doing that electro/EBM sound forever - before it was popular, when it was hyped, and now that it is largely dead and buried. part of the problem is the electro sound got so big and overplayed, that even the good electro stuff now sounds a bit lame/cliched.

"It’s the Sunday afternoon part I like. I imagine a room of people reading the paper eating bacon rolls while wispy German house plays."

Sounds a lot more like our party at the Lock tavern than the carpark of Ministry of Sound, but in between the Mountain People records you'd also have to endure the smatterings of blog house and all that :)

Was at Efdemin on Thursday too. Really enjoyed it although as was mentioned Wax probably isn't the perfect surroundings for his sound.

Looking forward to Loco Dice and Villalobos but there's so much hype and talk floating around Dublin about it the past couple of weeks it'll need to be stellar to not be a let down. I overheard people talking about it at two non-dance gigs over the past couple of weeks.

Yea, i just never liked the stuff he did with miss kitten and I think that just put me off him a bit altogether.
By the way, I met your friend Mark at Efdemin on thursday, nice guy.

I used to really like Goodlife but even as I got into it it began to tail off and seem formulaic, that was around 2003 I think.

It was Frank from Ame, he played some really nice deep stuff. I'm not a big fan of the Hacker but judging from last night I seemed to be the exception. Seems you can just bang the same sound for an hour and a half and people will still love it.

How were Ame? No offence to Remedy (indeed Dublin has needed somebody like that to put the boot in about booking big name house and techno acts) but they sure love the Hacker!

He hasn't released a record that I heard anyone play or done anything worthwhile in about 3 or 4 years, he must have a great personality or an estranged Irish child as he seems to be play Dublin twice a year!

I'd definitely recommend trying to see Efdemin if you can. He played in Wax on Thursday and despite it being a less than perfect venue he was really good.
This weekend is the biggest in Dublin for a long time, so have had to make decisions on a few things. Played last night before Ame and the Hacker, tonight I reckon it'll be Redshape in Kennedys and then tomorrow Ricardo and Loco Dice up in the Tivoli.
That Secretsundaze party on Sunday sounds cool, would definitely be the pick for me if I were in London.
